The SDC Steering Committee is seeking nominations for the Gustafson Award. If you know a SDC agency or person within a SDC that has been doing great work and deserves some recognition, nominate them!
The Gustafson Award was established in 2012 to remember one of our dear colleagues, Randy Gustafson from the Tennessee SDC, who also served on the SDC Steering Committee. Randy was a wonderful person and a big part of the SDC family. The Gustafson Award was created in his memory to honor outstanding contributions to the SDC network.
Anyone can submit a nomination form. The deadline for nominations is February 29, 2016. The winner will be announced during the annual SDC meeting April 6-8, 2016.
2013 – Pam Schenker, FL
2014 – Julie Hoang, CA
2015 – John Blodgett, MO

If you haven’t looked lately, US GPO and Federal Register made big improvements to their websites in 2014. The sites are easier to navigate and search. And, once you find the page you want, you can use XML/RSS feeds to keep tabs on new updates and new content.
Every week there’s a ton of Federal Register notices and announcements coming from scores of federal agencies and departments. For my part, I’m only interested in some (not all) of the notices at just four agencies — four out of 434.
So here’s my timesaver. I have a bookmarked “feeds” page, automatically refreshed with content of just the agencies I want to follow. For example: https://www.federalregister.gov/agencies/census-bureau.rss returns just Census Bureau’s notices.
Also there are similar pages for 434 other federal agencies and departments: https://www.federalregister.gov/agencies/
I know many people are saying they must have email. Good news: The Federal Register can send email too. Get yours — subscribe here: https://www.federalregister.gov/my/subscriptions/new?subscription%5Bsearch_conditions%5D%5Bagency_ids%5D%5B0%5D=42
