COVID-19 Economic Impacts in the Twin Cities
Metropolitan Council Research designed a scenario analysis of how the Twin Cities region’s workforce and households are impacted by the current economic crisis. We sought to answer: What impacts will job losses have on households’ incomes? How much will federal responses mitigate the economic pain?

Memo on 2020 Census Data Distortion
Differential privacy is a new mathematical procedure devised by the Census Bureau that will be applied to the 2020 Census data before it is released to enhance data privacy protection. Our analysis indicates that data accuracy at the sub-state level will be sacrificed as a result of this new approach to data release. This inaccuracy may lead to misallocation of funds, poor capacity for planning, substandard service provision, and a competitive disadvantage in economic and workforce development.

Differentially Private Census Data
To help data users assess the impacts of differential privacy, the Census Bureau has released 2010 demonstration data products, which supply differentially private versions of 2010 data. To facilitate comparisons between the original and differentially private 2010 data, we provide both versions joined together in a simplified format through the links below.

New from Tennessee State Data Center
2018-2070 Tennessee Population Projections
These new projections rely on 2018 county-level population figures, along with corresponding births and deaths for the year, to produce projections for 2019 to 2070. The annual data provide forecasted age, race and sex of future populations for each county in the state.

New from Missouri Census Data Center
CAPS: Circular Area Profiling System
The MCDC CAPS applications allow users to enter a location (latitude-longitude coordinates or ZIP Code) and up to five radius values. The results are a series of U.S. Census data-based profile reports, one for each radius. The data reported will vary with the CAPS version. All versions (except “classic”) provide links to Google Maps to easily obtain coordinates for any U.S. street address.
